Hiroshima Peace Park

Tina, Steve, Lauren and I decided to take Mum and Dad to Hiroshima. One of the reasons was because we wanted to attend the Hiroshima Peace Ceremony regarding the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima 62 years ago.

When we arrived in Hiroshima, the first thing we did was looked at the Peace Park. It was so nice just to walk around and look at the different monuments and read the plaques that explained what happened during the war.

It was even more special because it looked different this time around because they were preparing for the Peace Ceremony. So there were so many flowers displayed around the peace dome which looked really beautiful.

There were a lot of things happening at the Peace Park the day before the ceremony so we spent time enjoying all the festivities. There was a young orchestra of students who were between ten and twelve years old. They played beautiful music and were obviously very talented. We sat and listened to them play for a while and I took a few photos of the atomic-bomb dome across the river. It looked really nice because you could see its reflection in the river, like a mirror.

Later on that night, when the orchestra had finished, we were about to go home when two young girls were looking at something on the ground.

I was curious to see what they were looking at so I went and had a look. Funnily enough, there was this random crab in the middle of the peace park happily walking along the path! I had to take a photo of it because it looked so cute and it was so out of the ordinary!

Hiroshima is a wonderful place with a sad history but it still amazes me how well they have rebuilt it.
